Data Marketplaces: A Solution for Personal Data Control and Ownership?

Data sharing is critical for advancing research, commercializing technologies, and informing people. However, data owners have been reluctant to share due concerns about control, access, a lack of secure storage solutions. Frequent breaches also led user trust in businesses. Despite widespread recognition concerns, few steps taken empower users. While there are models decentralized sharing, the question how incentivize these structures enable at scale largely unexplored. This work discusses potential blockchain-based marketplaces users by giving them more control over their bringing transparency data-driven ecosystem.
